Design Madison History
The origins of Design Madison are shrouded in the mists of 20th-century history, but unconfirmed reports tell of a flourishing DM back in the late 80s & early 90s. Somewhere along the line, industry changes and board member burnout forced the club into dormancy. But Design Madison wasn't dead, only sleeping. It awoke in 2000, prodded into consciousness by a few hardy designers filled with new-millennial zeal. After testing the waters as a "pay-as-you-go" club, DM met with enough interest to return to its member-driven roots. Membership dues enabled the club to schedule more and better speakers, and to expand its calendar to match the academic year.
At the start of its fifth season, the second generation of Design Madison continues to enjoy phenomenal member support and club momentum. The 21st Century rocks.
